Career Opportunities for Embedded Systems Engineers are More than Other Tech Professionals

With the increasing sophistication in technologies, embedded systems are becoming more and more important. There is an enormous rise in demand for computing power, global connectivity, and the convergence of technology. As a result, the need for embedded hardware/software systems into the products is also increasing. This rising demand for the embedded systems has opened new doorways to several job opportunities for both freshers and the experienced.

Essential Information for Aspirants:
The study of embedded systems is a new classification of engineering studies. It merges computer science and electrical engineering. Aspirants should pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Embedded Systems Engineering. At least a bachelor degree in a relevant stream is essential to kickstart the career.

Various organizations offer certificate, undergraduate, and graduate programs in embedded engineering. Besides, few reputed institutes offer networking, continuing education, and professional certification courses as well.

To be an ardent embedded systems engineer, a student should feel self-propelled to learn and grow. They should not feel forced. Also, during the course make sure that you choose your final year project carefully because recruiters give due importance to the final year project.

Salary Information for Embedded Engineers:
According to a recent report generated by PayScale, the average median salary for an embedded systems engineer is $77,858 in the US and Rs. 3.29,272 in India.

Although the US Bureau of Labor Statistics did not release the latest details on wages, in the year 2015, it reported that the average median salary for electrical engineers was $93,010, while the software developers earned a median wage of $105,570.

 Career Information:
It is needless to say that with the increasing demand for hardware and software integration in applications, embedded systems engineers will have great career prospects between 2014-2024. In the US, there will be a growth of at least 17% employment opportunities, the BLS reported.
Apart from the industries that utilize the embedded systems engineering, there will be a plenty of career growth. Industries that currently employ the engineers are Robotics, Consumer Electronics, Healthcare, Defense, Communications, Railways, and Aeronautics.

In addition to this, experts say that you can shape your own future based on your personal interests. You can be a researcher, designer/developer of new products, or an organizer (managing a department of engineering or providing consultancy services.

While other technical graduates have limited career opportunities, embedded systems engineers are ‘multi-skilled’ and it is preposterous that they can have more opportunities in comparison to the others.

This makes it clear that it is a booming industry. All you have to do is, learn as much as you can in college and choose your project carefully before the onset of your career. Once you set your feet into the market, you will discover a plethora of career opportunities, and shape a bright future.
